Welcome to 3rd grade! My name is John Harris, and I'm excited to continue teaching at A.J. Whittenberg. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel welcomed, challenged, and excited to learn each day. I believe the best learning happens when students are actively engaged, encouraged to ask questions, and given opportunities to think creatively, solve problems, and discover new ideas. Whether we're diving into a great book, designing an engineering challenge, or exploring something new together, I want every student to know that learning can be both meaningful and fun.
I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Elementary Education, and I'm passionate about helping students grow not only academically but also in confidence, curiosity, and character. Building strong relationships with my students is one of my favorite parts of teaching because I believe every child learns best when they know they are valued and supported.
Outside of the classroom, I'm an avid reader and love collecting books, so it's no surprise that my classroom library is one of my favorite places. When I'm not reading, you can usually find me biking or running, or even planning my next trip to Edisto Beach or Park City, Utah. As a Greenville native, it's especially meaningful to teach in the community I've always called home. Some of my absolute favorites are Barnes & Noble and Starbucks!
I'm looking forward to partnering with families and making this a year filled with learning, growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. I can't wait to see all that we'll accomplish together!
