Recommended Listening

Why should musicians listen to music???

1) Everyone needs to know and hear what the ultimate goal of their individual practice/ensemble rehearsal is.

Each of us should have a professional on our respective instrument and/or an ensemble that is "the" sound for us. Meaning, that professional/ensemble is our personal goal in regards to tone, articulations, style, etc.

2) It is an easy (and fun!) way to practice!

Through listening you are learning and reinforcing concepts we learn in class.

3) It helps provide short-term and long-term goals.

There will be rehearsals and individual practice sessions that may seem "bad" or fall short, but, by listening to such music, we are reminding ourselves what our ultimate goal is. These pieces should serve as inspirational reminders and "fire you up" to keep working towards those goals!

4) Listening parties!

Grab some friends, make some popcorn, and bring your Bluetooth speaker! Music is meant to be shared and enjoyed with others! Doesn't matter how long the listening party is- so long as you're with good friends and music, you can't go wrong! (P.S. Ms. Skiles will bring the Oreos!)
