Fee Waivers: Fee waivers are available if you qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch. Email me about it!

Test-Optional Policies: Most schools in Virginia and nationwide have moved towards test-optional or test-blind admissions practices. What does this mean? If a school is test-blind, they do not want to see any SAT or ACT scores - it will not help you.

If a school is Test-Optional, then it is your decision whether you want to take and send a test score. Typically, sending the score only helps your application if it is at or above the Median Score Range (explained below) for that school. If your score is below that range, I recommend not sending the score.

Additionally, many Test-Optional schools have scholarships that you can only receive by sending a score, so be sure to check the website for that information!

SAT: The SAT is chosen more often than the ACT simply because most students have taken the PSAT at William Monroe and there are more free preparation materials. I recommend taking at least one test the Spring of your Junior year and the Fall of your Senior year.

Khan Academy (link) has a wonderful online resource to prepare you for the SAT that syncs up to your PSAT or a diagnostic test.
