Agricultural education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources systems.
The Three-Circle Model
Through agricultural education, students are provided opportunities for leadership development, personal growth and career success. Agricultural education instruction is delivered through three major components:

Introduction to Agriculture
An introductory course for first year agriculture education. Students will gain knowledge in:

Principles of Horticulture
This course is designed to introduce students to the horticulture industry. Major units of instruction include horticulture research, horticultural careers, plant anatomy, seed germination, plant propagation, growing media, pest management, hydroponics, identifying horticultural plants, soil science, growing greenhouse crops. Improving industry standard workplace skills will be a focus.
Floriculture
Floriculture is a two semester long class in which students will learn about the production, arrangement, and retailing of flowers. The class will include numerous labs where fresh, silk, and dried flowers are used to design corsages, wedding bouquets, table flower arrangements, and seasonal holiday decorations.
Landscape Maintenance
Landscape Management course provides instruction that incorporates plant science, soil and media mixtures, plant identification and optimal environments, and landscape design, installation, and maintenance of new and existing landscapes.
Work Based Learning
Students build on prior knowledge and skills in the program of study to further develop and apply employ-ability and technical skills that prepare them for success in future career and post-secondary education.

This advanced work can be individualized to the specific program of study to allow for specialized study for the student. It may include project based learning or preparation for end of program industry certification. Specific content and course design will be determined by the instructor in collaboration with the individual student.
