Thanks to Mrs. Kennedy, the Entrepreneur class, and volunteer workers like Matt Plucin and Carter Crossman, the Phantoms have a place to purchase things during WIN time. Did you forget your snack? Go to the store!
While the idea has been floating around for years, the school store finally opened this year.
Students in grades 7-9 get to earn Phantom Bucks from teachers for their positive behavior and school work. Phantom Bucks are an imaginary currency that can be spent at the school store.
The Phantom School Store sells all types of snacks, drinks, games, supplies, and merchandise.
The school store is a great opportunity to educate students about how the work world works by having them manage the store in several ways.
Although Phantom Bucks are free, the prices are higher for students using the imaginary currency. For example, chocolate milk usually costs $1.25 in regular cash, while it would cost $6 for people using Phantom Bucks.
The school store has already started selling and running out of products such as chocolate milk, baked lays chips, and rice crispy treats. “We need to order another shipment of products,” Carter Crossman states.
Freshman Jayda Perry goes to the store mostly for the juice boxes. “It's nice to be able to get snacks if I forget to bring anything,” she states.
To learn more about what students would like to see in the school store, Carter Crossmon and Matt Plucin say, “We have a suggestion box outside the store where people can write suggestions.” These suggestions can be for the store itself or the items being sold.
