Proctor’s Varsity Boys Basketball team ended the season with a favorable record of 11-10. This is a slight increase from their losing record last year, which was 10-11.
“It was good, definitely could’ve been better, it was really fun playing in it though,” Camrim Camp said about the season.
Another player, Jordan Weise, shared some of their strengths, saying, “Everyone is a skilled player on the team, and when they go into the game, they know what their role is. We can fight through tough losses and move on from them, and fight through the close games and come out with a W.”
The varsity team's outstanding shooting and excellent passing are what got the team to where it is. Even though they have outstanding skills out on the basketball court, they still struggle with some things.
Braden Sheehe shares some of the struggles the team faced. “Not giving it your all and letting other teams get under our skin.” Jordan Weise added that they need to work on. “Building chemistry and bringing each other up when we're down.”
Braden Sheehe explained one of his most memorable wins during the season. “Arlington at home, I got a steal that closed the game with a couple of seconds left.” He also fondly recalls their first game, “We beat Poultney in the first game of the season. It was slow at first; people needed to find their shots, and after we did that, we went on a spree of hitting shots, and we won by a great amount.”
Looking ahead to next year, Sheehe says, “I hope some changes are made. I think we can come out strong and have a good season. We just need to put the pieces together, and some changes would definitely help, but I think the squad for next year is gonna be good.”
“I wish we did more team bonding activities, and I wish we took it a little bit more seriously and focused on things more and toned in on the things we really need to work on instead of the things that weren’t really helping us, like focusing on defense more.” Jordan said.
Camrin thought a change in the line up could help. Camp the same question, he said, “Probably (should have) started a couple of other people.” he said.
Since last year, the team has improved, and they’re hoping to continue improving and hopefully bring home a championship someday soon.
