On Friday, December 1st, there was an Induction Ceremony for the National Honors Society (NHS) held at an 8am assembly in the gym. Junior Kaden Austin is the latest person inducted into the Redfield Proctor Chapter.
“Today’s ceremony is celebrating not only his (Kaden’s accomplishments) but all of our members,” Mrs. Garcia, Redfield Proctor NHS Chapter Advisor, said.
Part of this event was a candle lighting ceremony celebrating the four core values of the NHS: Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service.
When lighting the candle of Leadership, Aleea Richardson and Zoe Reynolds shared, “The Price of Leadership is sacrifice.”
“Character gives each of us our originality…it is achieved and not received- the product of constant action,” Brendan Coltey shared as he lit the candle for Character.
In addition to the candle lighting, members read the NHS pledge and gave Kaden his certificate.
Kaden said he was “happy and proud” to be inducted. He wanted to be in the NHS because he says service through volunteering “brings a better future.”
