When presented with the question in a blind taste test, “What donut is better, Donut A or Donut B?” It intrigued me to do a deep dive into a review, not only taste but smell, touch, and appearance. These categories were ranked depending on their value, such as taste being rated as the top target, followed by appearance; the donut must look good to win, after that we went to touch, and to finish off the ranks of how I'll judge these donuts were judged by smell.
The Look:
Donut A seemed to have a lot more glaze atop the donut. The glaze on Donut A seemed to glisten in the light, with a slight moisture within. Donut A was a very wide and thick donut with a potential fluffy inside that I pictured in my mind. Donut A was cooked lighter, a light autumn brown. After noting the looks of Donut A, I moved on to Donut B.
Donut B looked oddly long, with missing spots of glaze upon its long mouthwatering body. Donut B was thick, and its glaze looked thick as well, with a dark white coat but, It wasn't shiny. Donut B was cooked to a darker fresh soil brown. After marking down the rank for Donut B. I moved to the scent.
The Scent:
It's hard to smell a donut in a room full of smells. However, one donut out of the two stood out like a sore thumb pounding away. This one donut smelled satisfying, almost reminding me of myself as a young kid running around the fair or walking into a coffee shop. While the other just simply didn't smell like anything to me. This could be due to the lovely smell of the other donut. Now that the smells have been noted down we moved to touch.
The Touch:
Donut A felt soft, with its glaze a little wet and sticky. Donut B was soft with a harder glaze and was not sticky. The harder glaze wasn't a negative aspect. Now, for the most important part of this whole review! The Taste!
The Taste:
The taste was well evaluated, with deep thought bite by bite. For Donut A, the taste was exquisite, with a good mixture of sweetness and pleasure. On the back side of the donut or the crust, it brought in a nice little crunch. However, the crunch caught me off guard at first. Donut A also brought in a wet moist taste with a nice fluffy texture.
Donut B has a pleasurable first bite, being sweet but not too sweet, with a good amount of fluffy texture. It was soft all around, with a delightful taste throughout the wonderful experience of tasting the donut itself. Therefore, after putting every rank on the paper it's time for the final decision.
The Decision: After careful consideration, my decision was made. It was a tough choice to make, with the two donuts’ tastes being almost identical. I couldn't choose only based on the taste. Therefore, the smell and looks of the donuts were the difference maker! The winner of this donut contest, taste test, is Donut A from Market 32! It was the perfect glazed donut down to almost every detail, this donut is what makes a donut and beats out a similarly tasty Donut B from Dell Veneri’s Bakery.
