My students researched the meanings of color in other cultures and wrote poems about a single color using their research. Working with the music teacher, we then created an opera based on their poems.
The Best Sites for Learning About the world's Different Cultures
This is a great website with many ideas to teach about other cultures. My class discussed clothing, homes, and food from around the world using some of these resources.

This site has many ideas for creating arts and crafts relating to other cultures. I used the lesson plan on this site about the book: ONE PLASTIC BAG: ISATOU CEESAY AND THE RECYCLING WOMEN OF THE GAMBIA.
We read the book as a class, and then decided to create useful projects using plastic water bottles. We did this as a joint project with a classroom in Oakland, California

The Native American Student Council (NASC) is an organization that represents Native American Students at Utah State University. NASC creates a community on campus for Native American Students and an inclusive environment for Non-Native students to experience authentic Native culture and norms.
They provide events and activities to celebrate the beauty found within Native American cultures. NASC provides Native American and non-Native American students with elements of peer support, leadership development, and various cultural experiences enhancing appreciation of the Native peoples’ of North America.
