GENERAL RESOURCES:
K-12 Blended Teaching: A Guide to Personalized Learning and Online Integration
by Charles Graham, Jered Borup, Cecil R. Short and Leanna Archambault. (2008)
This book gives ideas for using digital tools to monitor student activity and performance in order to guide student growth. It also gives strategies for implementing a learning environment that allows for student customization of goals, pace, and/or learning path. It also gives ideas for facilitating online interactions with and between students.
Personally, I found it helpful to use some of the strategies to meet my high students' needs as well as my low students needs for any lesson.
Digital Literacy Resources: Google for Education: https://edu.google.com/teaching-resources/?modal_active=none&topic=digital-literacy
This is a fantastic general page of Google teaching resources and their applications.
Studying maps is part of the third grade curriculum, so I often use Google Maps.
I also often use Jamboard. I can post simple questions about anything and students can share their responses.
The students use Google Slides to create presentations, and enjoy using the many editing tools to create interesting effects.

This blog describes many good digital resources to use in the classroom.
A SELECTION OF TECHNOLOGY TOOLS TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM:
Nearpod:
Nearpod has been an invaluable tool in teaching all subjects, especially science and social studies. You can use either their library of lessons, adapt their lessons, or create your own. The lessons are interactive and the students are engaged and enjoying their learning.
Flipgrid:
Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. I have used this with project based learning as a means for students to present their creations to the class. They can also share their work with their families, as I can post the videos to their Google Classroom accounts.
Epic Reading:
I like to use this site because I can assign books related to what we are studying in the classroom. I can also level the books that I assign. Epic has a huge selection of books for students to choose from for their free reading time, and they really enjoy it.
Kahoot:
The students love playing Kahoot. It's easy to create your own assessments on this site, and I almost always use it to review for science and social studies assessments.
GLOBAL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT TOOLS

Center for Universal Education at Brookings and Youth Advocacy of the Global Education First Initiative of the UN.
"Catalogs 50 profiles of assessment efforts, each describing practices and tools to measure GCED at the classroom, local, and national levels
Broadly speaking, the assessment efforts in this survey may be categorized across achieving three goals: (1) fostering the values/attitudes of being an agent of positive change; (2) building knowledge of where, why, and how to take action toward positive change; and (3) developing self-efficacy for taking effective actions toward positive change."
Asia Society. Global Leadership Performance Outcomes and Rubrics
Includes detailed performance outcomes and "I Can Statements" by grade level.
