Strategy III was led by Action Team Leader: Allyson Walroth (Asst. Principal, High School)
we will configure the design of the district, including time and space, to meet the needs and aspirations of our students.
6 Action Plans:
Indoor Learning Spaces - Multi-Use Flexible Learning Environments:We will repurpose underutilized spaces to create multi-purpose flexible indoor learning environments conducive to collaboration and innovation which will result in increased student achievement and engagement and help students feel more valued and comfortable in school.
Flexible Learning Spaces: Outdoor Classroom Environments: We will create engaging K-12 outdoor learning environments (defined by the specific needs and interests of each school building), which will result in increased student achievement and satisfaction at school.
Balanced Calendar:A balanced calendar system (previously called year-round schooling) would call for school to begin earlier than Labor Day and go longer into June, but allows for breaks throughout the year.
Rotating Block Schedule with Student Resource Time (SRT):High school will implement flexible scheduling by the 2019/20 school year. The new schedule will provide more face to face time with students, result in less daily passing time, increase opportunities for small group work and independent learning, as well as provide advanced learning opportunities, remediation, and guided collaboration time. This will result in increased student achievement and higher student satisfaction.
Grand Blanc Virtual Academy/Alternative/Accelerated Education: We will create flexible learning opportunities to meet the ever-changing needs of K-12 learners in the 21st century. Students' individual social, emotional and academic needs will be met through a school setting that blends traditional classroom instruction, online instruction and community partnerships.
It is important to note that these action plans are subject to funding and various other circumstances.
