COVID PROTOCOL:

Our priority is always safety. At this time, masks are no longer required. We do still recommend social distancing where possible. Hand washing is just a good habit that we will continue to enforce. As I am still surviving cancer, I will continue to keep my room as germ free as possible. Should mandatory procedures return (please, NO!), we will follow all Hood County recommendations.

Our priority for Face-to-Face learners is safety. We are going to be following Texas state, TEA, Hood County and Granbury ISD precaution recommendations.

  1. If a student is showing signs of Covid (Fever, Uncontrollable Cough, Muscle aches, Lethargy (see Hood County site for additional symptoms), please keep them at home and notify AMS as soon as possible.

  2. If a student at school begins to show symptoms of Covid, they will be separated from other students and sent home. I will have a touchless, forehead thermometer in my classroom that I can use to check students if necessary.

  3. Hand washing and Hand Sanitizers: Students will have ample opportunities to wash hands with soap and towels as well as access to hand sanitizers. The classroom will also be sanitized between classes.

  4. Hand Sanitizer can be hard on skin, so it might be good to be lotioning hands at night.

  5. At school, students will be expected to wear masks or face-shields. AMS will have a limited supply of these, so try to have your own washable/reusable masks if possible.

  6. They will be allowed to remove them at lunch and during outdoor activities. They will also have plastic dividers between themselves and any other students in my classroom.

  7. During passing periods, students will maintain social distancing by walking on the right side of the hallway and being six-feet away from anyone walking in front or behind them. It will not be a time to stop and talk to friends or go to the restroom.

  8. Students will be allowed to go to the restroom during class. They will need to ask permission, and still maintain social distancing and wearing masks. There will be adults monitoring how many students are in the restroom.

  9. Water fountains will not be used. Students will be allowed to carry water bottles with them and refill at water refill stations once they're installed. They will also have the opportunity to refill water bottles at lunch.

If you are uncomfortable at any time with your student receiving Face-to-Face instruction, you may switch to Remote Instruction. If you are doing Remote instruction, you may switch to Face-to-Face instruction only at the end of a grading period (6 weeks).

There is more information on the Granbury ISD website if you are interested, but please know that we have student safety as a number one priority.
