SAAC Sportsmanship Award
Each Head Coach will select 2 players in Volleyball and Basketball and 3 players in Soccer from their team that best represents sportsmanship on and off the court/field during SAAC tournaments. Selected players will be recognized at the award ceremony at the end of the tournament. The select players must be confirmed by the Athletic Director of their school.
Criteria for selection:
Recipient must demonstrate consistent sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
Recipient must demonstrate good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Recipient plays by the rules and in the spirit of the game.
Recipient is a true team player.
Recipient acknowledges good plays or performances by both teammates and opponents.
Recipient will respect the integrity and judgment of game officials. Recipient will accept coaches and officials decisions and show respect and understanding towards coaches and officials
Recipient will show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators and support groups.
Recipient will display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.
Recipient will not use profanity or displays of anger that draw attention away from the game.
Recipient will shake hands after each game or match and give recognition for good performances.
Recipient is an excellent representative of their school and the community.
The player cannot be considered for the Sportsmanship Award if he or she has received the follow:
Technical Foul in Basketball
Expulsion in Volleyball
Red Card in Soccer
Any infraction of the SAAC Student Contract: Rules and Regulations
