“For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” John 1:16
Our mission at Grace Alliance Christian School is found in our name!
Grace: the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God through Jesus Christ; favor or goodwill.
We intend to focus with grace on the building of individual strengths in students, teaching and imparting strategies, tools and skills in order to create lifelong learners. We will meet students and families where they are in life and endeavor to help them become all that they were created to be. We will set high expectations for each student, building his/her confidence, leading with grace, and teaching compassion through humility and servant leadership. Through grace, we will recognize that each student is unique, and we will endeavor to know each student fully.
Alliance: a merging of efforts or interests by persons, families, states, or organizations.
Recognizing the strength of teamwork, at GACS we will join together in our educational efforts. This will be an alliance of not just teachers but also parents and students. Partnership is encouraged and supported. We will strive to stay in step with each other to provide a strong, well-rounded education.
Christian: exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike.
We aim to educate students in such a way that they develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Using a strong foundation rooted in Biblical Worldview, students will know Christ and make Christ known through their love for God’s Word and through their example of serving others. It is our desire that as they continue on in their lives, students will walk in the fruit of the Spirit, understand who they are as defined by Christ, and desire to walk with Him for His glory.
School: the activity or process of learning under instruction.
Grace Alliance will train students to use skills that will serve as a strong foundation for their future. Students will learn to think critically, solve problems, express creativity, and communicate their thoughts clearly and effectively. It is our intent that they will gain confidence and have instilled within them a lifelong love of learning.
Our vision at Grace Alliance Christian School is to graduate mature students who live for the glory of God, think Biblically, demonstrate Christian character, and develop as servant leaders through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. GACS will provide a distinctively Christian education focused on studies that are rooted in the Word of God, partnering with parents and the church to develop each student’s unique, God-given talents to their highest potential.
Every parent will come to a point in their journey when they will consider how they want to educate their child(ren). A holistic definition of education would be: The passing on of wisdom and knowledge from one generation to another. Grace Alliance Christian School (GACS) takes this definition and adds the element of basing this passing of wisdom and knowledge to the next generation on the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Bible. We partner with parents in the education of their children and place a special emphasis on the authority and teaching of Scripture.
We base the education provided at Grace Alliance Christian School on the following foundational beliefs:
Scripture
All teaching and learning of subjects is based on biblical truth. Jesus Christ was the ultimate teacher and all things come from Him and through Him.
Frame of a Child
We educate with the philosophy that each child has the ability to learn according to the talents and gifts God has given them. It is our job to train each child well.
Training of Teachers
Teachers should first strive to be lifelong learners of Scripture and then lifelong learners of their educational craft, understanding how to reach students and make learning interesting and fun. This is best accomplished through teacher training and growth assessment.
Affordability
Christian education should be made available to as many families as possible by remaining affordable. We charge $4,700 for lower school and $4,900 for upper school tuition + fees over a 12 month period August - July, thus keeping tuition costs low and making a Christian education more readily available.
Rigorous Learning
Students at Grace Alliance Christian School will receive a rigorous education. They will know how to problem solve and obtain solutions, how to read fluently and research thoroughly, how to speak confidently and with conviction, and how to write clearly and persuade completely.
Four Day Model
Education is ineffectual in the absence of balance between church, home, and school. Grace Alliance Christian School maintains a focus on keeping these three spheres in unity. The four day school model helps families isolate Sunday as a day of worship. This fact, along with our homework policy, keeps the school where its value is best, during the school day where teachers and students can interact. Evenings and weekends are protected for time with family or participation in church activities. Mondays are a home school day and a time to prepare for the week.
Partnership
We first and foremost partner with parents in the education of their children. This does not mean that we allow parents to dictate curriculum or teaching methods, but it does mean that the teachers serve the parents by listening carefully to their feedback about their child and seeking to create a true relationship with them in order to better understand and educate their child. Parents are welcome and invited into the classroom. We then ask that parents take their responsibility of partnership with the school seriously by engaging in their child’s education, reviewing their child’s work for understanding, encouraging their child to be a disciplined and diligent learner, and supporting the teachers and staff of GACS.
Community Service and School Community
We use each Friday afternoon to learn about the greater Spokane community through service projects as well as to build a learning community that glorifies our Lord Jesus Christ. We identify and complete service projects, participate in group activities through house relationships, go on field trips, complete science labs and art projects, and learn the value of physical activity. We firmly believe that learning is not just about book knowledge; learning is also about serving others and engaging in a community.
At GACS, we believe leadership and accountability go hand in hand. That is why we have established this structure for governance and oversight:
1. Leadership Team - This team of three includes our lower school administrator, upper school administrator, and culture director. This team meets weekly to plan and discuss what is happening at the school and how to continuously improve in order to meet the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and the broader school community.
2. Board of Directors - This team of six volunteers reviews and approves recommendations made by the Leadership Team, has final approval on hiring decisions, has oversight of facilities, and makes strategic decisions impacting the current and future state of the school. Our board members bring a variety of personal and professional experiences to the table that help maintain a well-balanced approach to all decision making.
3. 3rd-Party CPA - We contract the services of a 3rd-party CPA to regularly audit and certify finances as managed by our staff bookkeeper. Audit results are shared with the board to ensure full financial accountability. This is core to a healthy and Biblical approach to financial stewardship.
4. Prayer - In all things we submit to the authority and lordship of Jesus Christ, always starting with prayer and ending with prayer when these teams meet to do the good work they've been called to do.
