Gandhinagar Queer Pride Foundation (GQPF) made a historic entry into Gandhinagar on February 9, 2020, with the inauguration of the city's first Pride Parade. Since then, our momentum has been unwavering, culminating in the successful organization of our third pride parade in 2023. Pride, for us, extends beyond a mere celebration – it is a powerful expression of visibility, a reaffirmation of our rights, and a testament to the significance of our lives in the broader societal fabric.
In 2023, GQPF achieved a milestone by hosting the largest pride parade in Gujarat, attracting a remarkable turnout of over 1500 participants hailing from 12 different states. This significant accomplishment not only marked the magnitude of our presence but also underscored the diversity and unity within our community.
Pride, to us, serves as a platform to dispel misconceptions and to showcase that we are not a minority. It is an assertion of our rights, a celebration of our lives, and an opportunity to amplify our visibility within society. Through these parades, GQPF aims to contribute to the broader discourse on LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion, fostering a more understanding and accepting society.
Our commitment to organizing these pride parades goes beyond the events themselves. It is a dedication to promoting social awareness, dispelling stereotypes, and fostering a sense of community among LGBTQ+ individuals. As we look back at the success of our previous pride parades, we anticipate continued growth, impact, and progress in the years to come.
Come join us in our pride and help us become more vocal and visible. NUMBERS MATTER!
