Tuesday, 1/16: Africa mapping lab - open-note quiz
Wednesday, 1/17: Begin reading about daily life in ancient Egypt - introduction and section 1 - and complete interactive notebook activities that correspond.
Thursday, 1/18: Continue daily life in ancient Egypt - sections 2 and 3 - and complete the corresponding activities.
Friday, 1/19: Half day - end of 2nd quarter. Mr. Golich's last day.
Monday, 1/22: Mr. Edwards' first official day! We'll have proper introductions and then continuing learning about daily life in Ancient Egypt - reviewing what we covered last week
Tuesday, 1/23: Continue discussing daily life in Ancient Egypt - sections 3 & 4 - and complete the corresponding sections in your interactive notebook.
Wednesday, 1/24: Finish daily life in Ancient Egypt and complete the interactive notebook. This will be collected for credit as the first grade for the third card marking!
Thursday, 1/25: Move forward with the Africa unit and begin discussing the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt - lecture with notes.
Friday, 1/26: Continuing with Pharaohs - lecture with notes - and focus on their accomplishments and monuments
Monday, 1/29: Review what the pharaohs accomplished and write postcards about them and their most significant monuments
Tuesday, 1/30: Complete the postcard worksheets. Review for tomorrow's quiz by creating questions and quizzing each other..
Wednesday, 1/31: Open-note quiz on ancient Egypt - pharaohs and daily life.
Thursday, 2/1: Continue Africa unit - The Nile River
Friday, 2/2: (shortened class period due to 2nd quarter reward afternoon) Continue learning about the Nile River
Monday. 2/5: Day 1 of Nile River map project using map we put together on Friday 2/2.
Tuesday. 2/6: 8th grade Washington DC trip information with Mrs. Duffey. CNN 10 afterwards.
Wednesday, 2/7: Continue Nile River project (reworked)
Thursday. 2/8: Create one-pager mini-project on Africa using anything covered so far.
Friday. 2/9: Snow day - no school.
Monday, 2/12: Complete one-pager on Africa. Due at the end of the hour.
Tuesday, 2/13: Work on Nile River features packet.
Wednesday, 2/14: Finish Nile River Features packet. Answer question on the final page.
Thursday, 2/15: Introduce mini-unit on Sahara and Sahel - preview. Read sections 1 and 2 together, complete geoterms for reference.
Friday, 2/16: Continue Sahara and Sahel - sections 3 and 4 with Cornell Notes to go along with them.
Monday, 2/26: Revisit the desert environment. Go over Cornell notes and add to them.
Tuesday, 2/27: Read about desert oases - sections 5 and 6 - and begin to create a Cornell notes packet.
Wednesday, 2/28: Read about the Sahel region - sections 7 and 8 - and add to notes.
Thursday, 3/1: Africa review day - complete study guide together.
Friday, 3/2: Africa Quiz #2 - this will cover Egypt, the Nile River, the Sahara, and the Sahel.
