The four metal strips will be tested against the for cation solutions.
One drop of each cation solution is placed on each metal. The video to the left shows the process as a time-lapse.
The picture to the right shows the plates after the excess liquid is wiped off. It's hard to see in the picture, but the Zn solution did cause some pitting of the Mg metal.
The video to the right is a time-lapse of the setup. A few drops of each respective cation solution is placed on each section of the filter paper. A few drops of NaNO₃ is placed in the center. A piece of each respective metal is placed on each section.
The video to the right shows the electric potential (voltage) being measured for every metal pair. Notice that the measures are taken with the leads switched, but we're only interested in the lead placement that produces a +ΔV.
