8th Grade Reflection

8th Grade Reflection

In 8th grade, I had seen many people, hadn’t talked to since 7th grade due to the virus that started at the beginning of 7th grade. Most of the people I had seen were good friends and others were just people I didn’t really talk to in 7th. My classes in 8th grade were PALS, STEM, PAP Algebra, PAP Science, Critical Thinking Puzzles/Games, Boys PE, Encounters, PAP Social Studies, Art, Video Game Design, and PAP ELAR. Out of all my classes, my favorites had to be PALS and Encounters because in PALS I didn’t do much and was on my phone a lot. I liked Encounters because Mr. Skipper is an amazing teacher. Mr. Skipper was my favorite teacher because he is awesome and has some cool shoes and socks. In 8th grade, I had friends such as Alexis, Amy, Abigail, Logan, Rylan, Camila, Arianna, Elise, and Layla. I also met my newest friend, Aylin.

In 8th grade, our Encounters class was in 5th period at the start of our gold days. The best project in my opinion was the Happy Word because we just had to make the word using things that were related to the word. My word was Video Games so I used characters and objects from different video games. Our research project for encounters was about endangered animals. The animal I had chosen was the Red Panda. Because of the virus we couldn’t use paper mache or use actual paper, so instead, we used the Chromebooks. Although, Encounters was amazing it still had its downfalls. I hated doing the assignments on ThinkCERCA because of the essays we had to write about, and the multiple-choice answers were often wrong.

In 2021, nothing much had happened because schools had already figured out how they were gonna do STAAR testing. In February, my birthday came around and I have gotten my first phone. I was excited to get a phone, but not a lot changed after that. When May came around STAAR testing started. 7th graders took their first test, but there were many problems with the website they used. When my first STAAR test happened I was nervous because it was Algebra and I wasn’t very good at it. I ended up Mastering my Algebra STAAR. The next STAAR I took was my Science one. I ended up mastering that one too. I ended up taking my ELAR one and Social Studies one, but I don’t know my scores on those. 8th grade was my final grade in middle school, so next is 8th grade and I’m ready to set sail to Early College High School. See you next year!
