Vines

He knew that he must keep very still while he waited. While being tangled in the jungle’s vines and many feet above the ground, his thoughts roamed around his head. What if nobody comes? What if I’m just left here?

Earlier that day, he was flying high and above in a helicopter, looking for an island. Right when he had found the one, the pilot started to lose control and demanded that they used the emergency parachute.

“Quickly!”, the pilot shouted.

With no hesitation, Kevin, the passenger, grabbed the parachute, buckled it up, and took off. He aimed to fall into a spot where there were many trees to catch him. He then heard a loud shout come from the flying machine. When he glanced back, he saw that the pilot was still in the malfunctioning helicopter. Not only that, but he also had the second emergency parachute. Just as the realization hit him, the helicopter increasingly started to decline downwards with the pilot inside. It all happened in a matter of seconds. The helicopter became out of sight and Kevin got himself stuck in multiple vines. As he tried to remove the vines a loud explosion was heard, not too far away from where he was. Kevin was in a bit of shock but continued to battle the tangles. Eventually, he gave up and just sat there. Although almost his entire body was covered in vines, he felt the most pain in his ankle, which was wrapped tightly with a vine. It became dark and nobody had come to rescue him. Not a single plane or helicopter passed by. Knowing that the helicopter was in ashes and the pilot most likely dead, he knew that it would take a miracle for someone to find him.
