Middle Ages: A Cryptic Time

Introduction

Hundreds of years ago, a time period when people were put into a system where they get treated poorly because of wealth and land, Called feudalism. It was a time of war, people had to live their entire life during battle. Kings and queens ruled over all the land. This time period is called the middle ages.

Feudalism

The government in the middle ages was completely run by an unfair system called the feudal system. The Feudal system was a system where people would be put into groups based on wealth and land. There were 4 main parts of the Feudal system. The lowest and most poor in the feudal system in the Serfs, the people living in poverty and make up most of the population. The 3rd stage of the feudal system is the knights, The knights were called into battles for the king. the second stage of the feudal system is the nobles. Nobles were directly under the king, and their job was to maintain an army for the king. The first and most wealthy step is the king, the king was supposed to lead the land. When the king died his oldest son took the crown.

When the feudal system was still allowed and running the government, Was it unfair to the people living in poverty?. This question is very easy to answer, so think about it like this, while the king and nobles were rich and powerful, the serfs were living in poverty, having to work all day in the wild, going without eating or drinking. The kings and nobles turned a blind eye to the problems the serfs were facing, not giving a single care in the world, living in comfort even though the kings' people were suffering just to put food on the table. Yes, the feudal system was very very unfair to the serfs. If the feudal system was used now there will be public outrage, and people living in poverty will most likely begin to protest the feudal system to gain hope for the feudal system to come to an end.

Manors were the economic and social unit of life in the early middle ages. A manor had a manor house, one or more villages, and up to thousands of acres of land divided into 4 main sections, the meadow, pasture, forest, and cultivated fields. The fields were divided into strips;⅓ for the lord of the manor, less for the church, and the remaining land was given to the serfs. The land was distributed out so each person had an equal share of good and poor. At least half of the week was spent on the land of the lord and church time was also spent doing other things like, clearing land, cutting firewood, and building roads and bridges. The rest of the time was spent on their own land.

King Arthur

King Arthur was the king and leader of bitten The Knights of The Round Table. King Arthur was a humble man and never called himself a king. Although he was a humble man he still protected his kingdom and lead his knights into battle. He was loved by many people during his rain the reasoning for that is because he kept his kingdom safe and secure. To many people, King Arthur was a great king.

King Arthur was also known as "The One, True King Of Britons" His Mentor and teacher were Merlin, he thought him prophetic knowledge and extensive magical skills. King Arthur and His wife, Guinevere, the daughter of the Leodegraunce, King of Cameliard got married, the reasoning for this circumstance was not as complicated as you would think, the reason why he married Guinevere was that he admired her, even though merlin warned him to not marry Guinevere, for the reason that merlin thought that she would be unfaithful to him. Another thing that people may not have known about him is that he loved his dog named cavall

He was killed in his last ever battle, The Battle Of Camlann. Shortly after king Arthurs's death, a ruler named king Mark of Cornwall, someone who king Arthur defeated in battle took his revenge by launching a final invasion of the kingdom of Logre.

The Hundred Years War

The hundred years' war was a war that went on for not 100 years but went on for 116 years instead, Many people had lived their entire life during this war. Transforming France from multiple feudal lands to a national state. The war stopped for a long period of time because of the black plague. the 100 years of war was split into 3 main periods, The Edwardian war(1337-1360), The caroline war (1369-1389), and The Lancastrian War(1415-1453)The war had stopped because of a plague that killed ⅓ of Europe; which was called the Black Plague.

was the reasoning for starting the war justified? this is a question that I have been wondering too. From my understanding of why the war happened, I don't really know who is in the wrong and who is in the right, because I wasn't alive way back then, nor does it really matter why it happened now. In modern-day it doesn't affect me in any way so that is why I'm neutral about it all. To sway my decision to this conclusion I would need to know way more and learn lots more things that happened during the war.

France's house of Valois and their allies won the war after 116 years

Conclusion

Feudalism, King Arthur, And the Hundred Years' War were all a part of the middle ages. It is important to learn about the middle ages because it was a major part of human history. People can learn about things that happened many years ago and compare them to their life and see what is different and what is the same. Learning more about the middle ages is so interesting and reading and learning more about it can really keep you occupied for hours.
