Reflecting on my year as a seventh grader, it was a year full of ups and downs. It was a year full of stress and anxiety, but also of new friendships and alliances. From keeping up with the social image to managing an increased workload, and even going through the hallways like a maze, my second year has undoubtedly been the best year of my life with the most significant experiences.
Academically, seventh grade was tough. A lot of work and little time is never a good combination, especially for a young middle school student like me. Being in advanced classes is definitely good and a great academic achievement, but it’s hard to keep up with. Other achievements have been things like being in Encounters and making it to Wind Ensemble in the school band. Also, I maintained a perfect attendance record the whole school year, and with A&B Honor Roll in all classes all year long. Hopefully, these will be easy feats and kept in the future.
Socially, not many things have changed since sixth grade. Some new friends were made, and some became more distant. Schedule changes affected some friendships, but some maintained strength even after being separated. The school year brought many laughs and excitement, and it was a great year.
Beyond the classroom, things weren’t really different. Our friends kept in contact, and many of us did the same things. Extracurricular activities also took up a lot of space after school ended. Sports like basketball and track took up space with practices and even games, which usually ended till night fell. After those seasons were played things calmed down. With those down, I had time to meet up with friends after school and socialize further.
The seventh-grade year was stressful, yet very rewarding in many ways. Overall, it was a time of growth and learning. I developed new skills, made new friends, and had some exciting experiences. While there were plenty of challenges along the way, I am better equipped to handle them in the future now that I have faced them. I am excited to see what eighth grade has in store for me, and I am grateful for the experiences and lessons of my seventh-grade year.
