As a school counselor, it is my responsibility to ensure that your safety and welfare come first. I believe in building trusting relationships in order to face the challenges together. With trust and respect, a positive outcome is achieved.
Students seek counseling for a variety of reasons. I focus on helping students to make better choices in their career path and providing them with strategies to deal with the issues at hand. I facilitate students to develop realistic goals in order to be successful in their classes.
My main goal is for the students to learn coping skills in order to function independently. I assist students who are struggling with their academics in a group setting during study hall.
My approaches to counseling involve cognitive and behavioral techniques, solution- focused counseling, strengths-based, and most importantly person-centered approaches. I will help students learn new ways of thinking, processing information, and adapt various ways to positively respond to their environments. Students are the core of the counseling process, so it is vital to put emphasis on them and focus on their needs.
