Course Description
This course introduces 2 and 3-D digital imagery. Topics include digital composition, design principles, raster and vector based 2-D graphic design and animation, and 3-D modeling and animation. Students use software like Photoshop and Illustrator to create and edit digital designs for a range of purposes including fine art and art for publication.
By the end of this course, students will be able to understand the basic principles and fundamentals of Digital Art & Animation. Students will also be able to create graphic art designs and learn about new technology applications used in the technology world. The skills learned in the class will enhance creative thinking and students will learn about career options in the digital design career field. Students will participate in 3 district competitions, the Multimedia Medal, the Multimedia Contest, and the Internet Safety Poster.
Class Material Requirements
No materials and supplies are required for the class. All work assignments will be conducted on the computer workstations in the classroom. Students must treat the computer workstations with proper respect and must not damage any of the technology equipment that will be used in the course.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phone usage is not allowed in the Digital Design classroom. Students should place their cell phones inside of their backpacks, if students do not have a backpack they can place their phones on Mrs. Speck’s desk and will be returned to them at the end of class. Eliminating cell phone distractions is one of the keys to being successful in the Digital Art & Animation and Focus Features class.

50% Daily (Class Assignments, Homework, Quizzes, Participation)
50% (Projects, Tests)
10 Points are deducted after one week of late work. Students are able to make up work after an absence.
Attendance is necessary & highly recommended in order to be successful in the class. We cover a lot of material so please plan on attending.
Rules & Classroom Management Policies (including virtual)
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and be ready to learn. Students are required and expected to participate in classroom discussions, projects, and daily work. All students are to act in a behavior that models the positive school environment & the Mustang Way. If students are not able to follow the rules, they will be disciplined according to the steps and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook.
