As I look back at my 7th grade school year, I am really surprised at how many things happened this year. There were a lot of things going on with sports and school, but I have enjoyed it all. Classes got harder but I learned a lot this year. There were of course more assignments given this year than last year, but the hardest part was that there seemed to be less time. There was less time this school year to do work after school because of sports. This year I got to play football and basketball at school. Plus I still had soccer outside of school.
This school year my grades were pretty good. It took me a little while, but I learned how to manage my time to do my work and be in so many different sports. My favorite subject this year was science. I liked science because we were able to do fun games and experiments. For example, we did an experiment with Kool-Aid powder and were able to drink it. Another cool thing we did in science class was that we were able to observe real fossils.
Sports were a new thing for me at school this year. I have always played soccer outside of school, but this was the first year I got to play with my friends at school. I was also able to play basketball and football at school. I loved playing these sports and being able to talk to my friends about games and practices.
Also this year I was a part of a few clubs. Student Council let us be part of a parade and we were able to help with the Fall Festival. Another club I was in was Boys' Club. My friends are in this club with me, and I was able to learn how to be a good leader in the class.
Socially this year I was able to meet new people because of my new schedule and I was able to make friends. I was able to create good relationships with these people. I also was in sports, so I got to meet new coaches and they taught me a lot of lessons. One of them taught me that if it was easy everyone would do it and that stayed with me throughout the year. This year I worked on improving my communication skills by trying to talk to people that I don't even know and trying to make conversations with people that last longer than 2 minutes. This skill helped me make new friendships. Being in Spanish class with 8th graders helped me learn how to work with older kids. In that class, I was able to talk to 8th graders and make new friends. Overall my social skills and life grew a lot this school year..
My outside school thoughts were mostly soccer and school sports. These things took up most of the time when I wasn't in school. This also meant that I couldn't stay for afterschool activities because of my club soccer. In my soccer club, we travel a lot meaning that I have to get all my work done in school to not get set behind because of soccer. My team participated in the Dallas International Cup and played against a team from South Africa. We traveled to Atlanta to play some top teams.
That is all that happened in 7th grade. I hope that the years to come are better and I shine brighter than I did this year. These are some 7th grade reflections that I will remember for a long time.
