Middle school is way different than elementary. For one thing, middle school has more kids and more activities to join. However, being at a new school and having six teachers was hard to get used to, so that is one of my challenges for this year. One of the positives of this year was making new friends and meeting kids from 7th and 8th grade. The best part of being in middle school is not having to stay in the same class all day long with the same teacher. I made a lot of good memories this school year in Student Council, Number Sense UIL Team, and National Junior Honor Society.
This year I participated in a lot of different groups and clubs at school. The first club I joined was Student Council. I will always remember when the student council had me sell drinks at the concession stand for the staff versus student basketball game. I had so much fun doing this with my friend Josiah. It was more fun than having to sit in the gym watching the game.
I am really proud of two things I accomplished this year. One was competing in the UIL Academic Meet for middle schools. I competed in the Number Sense group. I placed 4th. The other thing I am proud of is getting into the National Junior Honor Society this year. The packet to get in was a lot of work and really long, but I did it. I am glad I did, because the ceremony was fun for my friends and me. We helped Mr. Skipper and Ms. Damnate set up the MPR. I like when we get to hang out after school. They had good cookies at the ceremony.
I like that I joined so many groups and clubs this year, because it gave me a chance to meet new kids in different grades and a chance to hang out with my friends. We do not live close to each other, so it is fun to get to do things together. I liked the field trips we took in Encounters this year, too. We saw two plays. The best part was getting to go do something outside of school with my friends. I hope next year we get to go on more field trips and see new places. This was a good year.
