The book I chose is called When The Shot Drops, and it was written by Randy Ribay. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. This book is high quality, and this impacted me by giving me a new perspective of other people, and how they live life, what it is like in that type of community, and what rivalries between close friends are like.
The main characters are Nasir, Bunny, and Wallace. Nasir is smart, talented, hardworking, dedicated, loyal, and he always kept it real. Bunny is also smart, talented, hardworking, dedicated, and he always did his best on and off the court. Wallace on the other hand was dangerous, cautious, irresponsible, and he would always lead Nasir down a dark path. I really connected with Nasir since he always did his best, and he was always smart. I really appreciate that they act like how people are today, and that they can connect with anyone.
This book takes place in a modern day in a kind of suburban neighborhood, a neighborhood where people struggle, and two schools. Bunny and Nasir live in a kind of suburban neighborhood, and Wallace lives in an apartment complex where people struggle. Nasir goes to a normal school, and Bunny goes to an elite private school where they are known for sports, but Wallace on the other hand does not goes to school.
This book is very interesting and exciting when it comes to the plot and the conflicts because they lead up to very exciting events. There is some minor conflicts, but there is one major conflict where it leads to exciting events throughout the story. I would say that the theme of the story is that it’s best to not have any enemies or rivals, for it could lead to events that majorly affect people.
This book could be better if the author included more encounters between Wallace and Bunny because that would make the story more exciting, for Wallace does not like Bunny, so if they see each other more often then things would be more tense and exciting.
I would recommend this book to readers my age because the events and the way the characters talk intrigue with people my age, so those things will make them want to read this book even more, and they will start to get excited, and they will feel more suspense as they go deeper in the story.
