Now that this awesome chapter of my life is over, I can express my thoughts on this experience. Middle school had lots of ups and downs, especially my 8th grade year. Academically, it was amazing and exceptional. I managed to have mostly all A’s all year long with a couple B’s here and there. Some weeks were very stressful due to the fact that I had sports on top of testing weeks and homework, but I made it work out and not lose my mind. I tried to have as many extra activities this year because I knew that in high school, I wanted to focus more on only my academic records. To exceed this year as much as possible, I played in the girls Volleyball team as a setter, I ran long distance for Track and Field, and im currently playing half-back in the WAMS soccer girls team. I participated in the UIL competition and got 4th place, I worked really hard to get where I was and I was proud of myself for all the hard work I put in.
I learned a lot of lessons this year and one of them was that how far I go depends on how hard I work, and I learned that the hard way. One of the hardest things for me to understand and go through was people, or friends to be more specific. Not everyone is who they seem to be and I learned to be careful on who to trust in this mean world, other than that though, I made many many friends and now compared to my other years of middle school, I get along with many more different people. My 8th grade year was the year I made most of my mistakes, but I'm happy I did them because now I have all that knowledge.
I experienced many situations during this year and I now have tons of happy and sad memories that I would not change for anything in the world. Encounters were also a big part of this year, all the projects and interaction really stood out to me because of all the fun things I learned, especially my teacher Mr. Skipper, who I also had for English class, meaning I had him everyday. All those tiny little details made my 8th grade year exceptional.
I am From
By Madison Cabrera 2-26-24
I am from my green desk and blue computer
From my teddy bear and my good luck necklace
I am from my Mexican culture
And from “ If you spend time too much on your phone your going to get sick”
And from a high expectation on school
I am from roses and other flowers
Whose calming scent calms my mind
I am from volleyball
And from my playlist with every genre possible
I am from Mayra and Rafael
And from my abuelita’s famous green dish
I am from those moments when life feels endless, full of joy and hope.
