As I look back on my last year of middle school, I can say this past year has been filled with emotions, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. This year, I decided to join a club volleyball team, which not only improved my skills but also helped me make new friendships. This year has left a significant impact on my journey, and I am eager to see what’s to come.
On the academic level, I noticed an increase in the work, and I found myself striving for higher grades. At the start of the year, I have often found Social Studies to be a difficult subject, due to not remembering in small details easily. However, my Social Studies teacher, Mr. Ricks, who inspired me to focus more and challenge myself. As a result, this led to improved test scores and grades.
I take pride in the person I’ve become this year and appreciate the experiences that have contributed to my growth. I’ve worked on becoming a better version of myself, whether that means supporting my family and friends or taking care of my own well-being. I’ve realized the importance of taking breaks instead of overwhelming myself. As an athlete, I want to work more on becoming a supportive teammate and improving my skills. My challenge this year was balancing academics with sports due to my family highly valuing education. However, I learned to balance them out and was able to succeed in both.
Looking ahead, my goals for next year include making the high-school volleyball team and excelling academically. I feel nervous and excited about entering high school. While change can be scary at times, it also holds the potential for new friendships and lasting memories. Reflecting on my middle school journey, I can confidently say that it has been a memorable experience filled with emotions and opportunities. My advice to my future self is to continue persevering and remain confident. Life will present challenges, but I know that I will navigate through them. I am aware of who I am today and the person I strive to become.
