As soon as our doula relationship begins, I am dedicated to supporting your pregnancy, birthing and postpartum journey so it can be as positive for you as possible. Listening deeply to your story so far and your dreams and wishes for your upcoming birth. I hold your hand as you explore options that feel right for you and help you feel more empowered to advocate for the things that matter most deeply.
This includes giving emotional and informational support before, during and after your baby’s birth. Whether messaging via Whatsapp, speaking or supporting you in person, or signposting you to really great resources ~ I will be a steadfast companion every step of the way.
Before your baby's birth, I will invite you to several meet ups so we can really get to know each other. This will include a full day of learning my Go With The Flow Birth Course, in the comfort of my cosy yurt. A chance for you and your partner to be indulged, I will prepare lunch so you don't have to do anything except enjoy the day. We cover all aspects of birth preparation and deep dive into your birth plans and wishes. This is an opportunity to debrief fully from previous births or share any questions or fears.
This is often an enlightening day for partners too, and a chance to explore birth options, learn and experience relaxation techniques, discover the benefits of using a rebozo for comfort, and understand your rights. You can also borrow from my lending library of books about birth.
We will also meet for a relaxing session in the third trimester to unwind your mind and help you approach birth using shiatsu massage, creating birth art as a powerful visualisation tool, or have a mix of the two. You are welcome to invite a few friends for this as a chance to nurture and honour you before the big day!
You may also have use of one of my Birthpool in a Box Birth Pools, from 38 weeks onwards which includes a liner, hose, tap adapters, and air pump and water pump, if you are planning to give birth at home.
During your birth month I have my phone very close to me so I can arrive day or night within 1.5-2hrs of your call. When I arrive at your birth, I do whatever is required from moment-to-moment. This looks slightly different every time! There is always a mother and a baby but each family dynamic is so different! I am extremely flexible and will happily do whatever things support your flow and bring you calm and comfort in whatever setting you have chosen. I might be giving verbal reassurance one minute, helping you walk to the loo the next, fetching and carrying things, being someone to lean on and offering a hand to squeeze, or acting as a sounding board if you need an extra person to talk to who knows your birth priorities, needs (and triggers) ~ especially valuable when births don't go to plan. Always bringing humour, warmth, love and that most important thing ~ someone unshakeable, unshockable, steady, quick thinking, calm, and non judgemental.
Whether giving you a shiatsu foot massage in labour or walking your very bouncy dog that needs to get some energy out of their system, or sitting reading a book to the toddler, or making a cuppa ~ I do it all with a smile and a lot of softness and heart. I'm often doing all sorts at a birth and sometimes just being a still, calm counterpoint to help you anchor and ground if things are getting busy or a bit noisy. I'm also not frightened to have hard conversations with professionals if they aren't hearing or respecting your wishes or plans.
After your baby is born I stay with you for the first 2 hrs, unless I am unable to due to hospital protocols or because you are happy for me to go because your family just wants to bask in the new baby!
In the days and weeks after I will come back for 2 separate 3 hr visits, and continue to provide Whatsapp support. One of these sessions can be a Closing the Bones for integrating postpartum healing (Ask me about this in person).
When you hire me, mostly, you get a big old dollop of love, the most important ingredient for mothers!
Full details of these offerings are in my contract and Doula support only begins upon agreeing to these terms and payment of a deposit of 25% upfront. Further payments can be made in up to 6 instalments.
I offer 15% discount to parents receiving benefits.
My full birth fee is £2,500
