Wed., Apr. 29: In Lesson 6 from Chapter 3 of the textbook (P.98), read about Nets and the solids they make. You can also watch videos 4 & 5 about solids and their nets in the "Useful Links" section of the "Chapter 3B - Handouts/Homework Sheets/Links" page. Then complete PH Book P. 44 - 45; all Qs including SYT.
Tues., Apr. 28: Using craft supplies you have at home (such as toothpicks, popsicle sticks, cotton swabs/Q-tips or straws), build 5 different types of prisms and 5 different types of pyramids. To connect the toothpicks/straws/etc. to each other at the vertices, you can use playdough, plasticene or a hot glue gun. You can watch video 3 in the "Useful Links" section of the "Chapter 3B - Handouts/ Homework Sheets/Links" page to show you how you can do this. I will post an assignment in our Math Classroom to which you can upload photos of the 3D shapes you build. This assignment will be due at the end of the week.
Mon., Apr. 27: Complete the Prisms & Pyramids review worksheet. To help you remember the difference between Pyramids and Prisms, you can watch videos 1 & 2 that I've provided in the "Useful Links" section of the "Chapter 3B - Handouts/ Homework Sheets/Links" page.

Fri., Apr. 17: Today, I will post an Exit Ticket on multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of 10 in our Google Classroom. This Exit Ticket must be submitted by midnight today. As homework for today and over the weekend, please review all of the concepts we've covered in our Multiplication/Division unit by doing the following "Show What You Know" problems from the Textbook: P. 74 Qs #7, 8a,b, 9b,f; P. 75 Qs #10, #11, #12b,c, #13a,d, #14, #15, #16. There is a Review Sheet at this link. Next week, I will post a short quiz in our Google Classroom on the key concepts in this unit.
Thurs., Apr. 16: Review Lesson 9 in Unit 4 on Dividing Decimals by 10 (P. 143-145). Complete PH Book P. 63 - all Qs including SYT. (P. 63 is the second page at this link.) If you're interested, there is an extra practice sheet for multiplying and dividing decimals by 10 here. You can use this to prepare yourself for the Exit Ticket I will post on Friday.

Tues., Apr. 14: Complete PH Book P. 35 - all Qs; SYT is BONUS. The questions on this page are word problems. Students should be clearly showing their thinking and the calculations they make in the space provided. I will also have this homework sheet posted as an Assignment in Google Classroom for Tuesday. Once students complete this worksheet, please take a photo of it or scan it, and turn it in in Google Classroom. FYI: at the start of the year, all students received a copy of my criteria for communicating solutions clearly in Math - here is that sheet for your reference.

Fri., Apr. 10: Read the notes I have posted in the "Class Handouts" section about the Short Division Strategy - this is a shorter version of the traditional long division strategy. Review the notes on how to check that the answer to a division problem is correct. Then, complete the 3rd page of the Practicing Division of 4-digit numbers by Single-digit Numbers package using the Short Division method.
Thurs., Apr. 9: Read the notes I have posted in the "Class Handouts" section about the Place Value Long Division Strategy (2nd page at that link) - this is the traditional long division strategy that parents know well. It uses the DMSB (Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother) mnemonic. Review the notes on how to check that the answer to a division problem is correct. Then, complete the 2nd page of the Practicing Division of 4-digit numbers by Single-digit Numbers package using the Place Value/Traditional division method.
Wed., Apr. 8: Read the notes I have posted in the "Class Handouts" section about the "Hangman/Flexible" Long Division Strategy (1st page at that link) and try the practice question at the bottom of that explanation page. Then read the notes on how to check that the answer to a division problem is correct.
