Space Unit
FINAL PROJECT
Due Date: Monday, February 12, 2024
For your Space culminating project, you will create an informational graphic about one of the topics listed below. You will use a piece of 11” X 17” paper and include at least 10 features of informational text.
Your piece must have an introductory paragraph either at the top of the page or as a side bar. It should also have a minimum of 5 interesting facts about your topic with relevant details.
Your piece will also have on it a list of references (or a bibliography) to let the reader know the resources you used to gather the information on your poster. This bibliography map be placed on the front of the poster or on the back.
The required elements of informational text you must use are:
Title
One central image – this can be a photo with a caption or an illustration or diagram with labels
Introductory paragraph about your topic
At least 3 inset photos or diagrams (other than the central image) with their captions and labels, as needed
Headings
You must choose at least 6 other features of informational text from the following list to include in your piece:

Sidebar or Fact Box

Comparison Photo
Flow Diagram

Magnification or Zoom-in
Topics to choose from for your piece:
One of the celestial bodies in our Solar System:
the Sun,
one of the planets (e.g., Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, or Neptune),
a dwarf planet (e.g., Pluto),
the moon(s) of one of the planets (e.g. Earth’s moon, Phobos & Deimos of Mars, the Galilean satellites of Jupiter – Io, Europa, Ganymede & Callisto, etc.),
a significant comet (e.g., Halley’s comet, Hale-Bopp comet), OR
Other body you find interesting – tell Mrs. Sedig first

Thames Valley Science & Engineering Fair
The 2024 Thames Valley Science & Engineering Fair (TVSEF) is being held for grades 4, 5, and 6 on Friday, March 22nd.
