This is a Great Place to Begin Your New Learning Journey!

A great place to begin your journey back into school and formal education is making sure that you have, or are developing, the skills and attitudes to successfully manage your own learning. Being an adult in school means that you have much more individual responsibility for managing your own learning, with the support and assistance of your Instructors and Administration, of course. The following checklists can help you to identify the abilities you already have and those that you need to develop for success and satisfaction in your life.

Can you...

• demonstrate a positive attitude to learning?
• accept positive feedback and constructive criticism?
• recognize and express when you do not know something?
• accept new learning challenges?
• work independently?
• take responsibility for learning?
• take initiative?
• take risks in learning situations?
• manage your time to make realistic estimates about time, meet deadlines, complete activities and tasks in a logical order?
• attend class regularly and punctually?
• check the accuracy of your work?

If you answered "yes" to all of the questions, then you are well on your way to success in whatever you want to learn. If you answered "not yet" to some of these things, then your Instructor will work with you to create a plan that will help you achieve greater success in these areas.
