Homework

I strongly encourage you to read with your child between 20 and 30 minutes each night. The amount of time a child spends reading with a caregiver has a significant impact on how well they do at school.

What counts as reading? Just about everything! Students can work on spelling or sight words, read a book, have a book read to them, listening to or reading a book on a device, search for interesting words in newspapers or magazines, etc. Each week, students have a response prompts they are to complete.

To help with French reading, students will have sight words booklets they can use to practice high frequency words. Copies of these booklets and the videos that go along with them can be found here. Students can work through these booklets at their own pace.

In addition, students might come home with a weekly math problem. Students are encouraged to work out these problems with as much independence as possible using whatever tools are at their disposal. I expect to check math journals on Thursdays or Fridays of each week.
