Alternative Ways to Earn a Credit

Students in Grade 12 may be eligible to take college courses while in high school through the Dual Credit/Day Away program. Students can earn credits that count as high school and college credits at both Fanshawe and Lambton College.

School Within a College (SWAC) and School Within a University (SWAU) are two other TVDSB programs suitable for students who may be disengaged with the traditional high school but have potential to be successful. These two programs give students the chance to attend a high school classroom at Fanshawe or Western, complete their remaining high school credits while earning college or university credits.

New credit summer school courses are offered in July.

Students may be eligible for a Virtual Academy (eLearning) online course if that course is not offered at A.B. Lucas. Students must be prepared to spend at least 90 minutes a day working on the course and permission must be granted through the guidance counsellor to register.

Full-time TVDSB students are not eligible for ILC courses.
