AMV1O1 Music: Vocal-Beal Singers, Grade 9, Open

Students learn the fundamentals of vocal technique and participate in a variety of performances at school and in the community including music from a wide variety of styles and genres. This course is usually scheduled after the regular school day on the “extended day schedule”. Occasional performances may also be on evenings or weekends. Because the Grade 9 student must have a full timetable during the school day, this course is to be taken as a ninth credit…an excellent way to pick up an additional credit (runs from Sept. to June – usually two afternoons per week). Those interested in singing may also consider in the future taking AMT Beal Musical Theatre (BMT) and/or AME – Vocal Ensemble in Grade 11 and 12. See below for more info.

Please note that meeting times for band and choir (bealsingers) are usually as follows:

§ Beal Concert Band (Repertoire) meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:15 – 8:15 am

§ Grade 9 Band (Repertoire) meets Tuesday and/or Thursday from 7:15 – 8 -15am (Times TBA)

§ Beal Singers meets Tuesday from 2:55 – 5:00 pm; Wednesday and/or Thursday 2:55 – 4:40 pm with some additional times related to performances (schedule given out the first day of class).

§ Additional ensembles meet at various times throughout the year – e.g. Jazz Band, Madrigal Choir, Guitar Ensemble and Beal Musical Theatre

AMV2O1 Music: Vocal, Grade 10, Open

This Beal Singers vocal course is a continuation of AMV1O1 and can be earned as a ninth credit, as it is usually scheduled outside of regular class times (After school usually twice weekly throughout the school year). Students enrolled in Vocal Music should enroll in 9 credits for the year. This course includes performance opportunities at school and in the community with some evening and/or weekend performances.

AMV3M1 Music: Vocal, Grade 11, University/College Preparation

This Beal Singers vocal course can be earned as a 9th credit (when scheduled after school usually twice weekly throughout the school year) or as a regular semester course when scheduled during the regular school day (usually first semester). This course includes performance opportunities at school and in the community with some evening and/or weekend performances.

Prerequisite: Grade 9 or 10 Vocal, but Grade 10 is highly recommended

AMV4M1 Music: Vocal, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This advanced Beal Singers vocal course can be earned as a 9th credit (when scheduled after school usually twice weekly throughout the school year) or as a regular semester course when scheduled during the regular school day (usually first semester). This course includes performance opportunities at school and in the community.
