2026 - 2027 Programs for students heading to grade 10 or 11
H3-ELP program
Grade 9 students are invited to apply for next year’s Grade 10, four credit, Head, Heart and Hands Environmental Leadership Program (H3-ELP).
This program is offered through the London Environmental Education Centre. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside local community experts while earning credits in English, Science, Civics, Careers and Physical Education. They will gain transferable skills while making a difference in the local community. For the past three years this program has been in very high demand and has run in both semester 1 and 2.

WILD Summer program - July 2026
The Experiential Learning Credit is earned through a blended-learning course of virtual learning combined with in-person community building and training sessions and concludes with a seven-day canoe trip in a Wilderness region of Ontario.

Student Experience
• Seven Day canoe trip in the Ontario wilderness (July 2026)
• Students help to collaboratively plan through participation in:
Evening Commitments for several evenings throughout April-June
Virtual (online) meetings and discussions
In Person training and community building opportunities
Students prepare lessons to share important learning with their peers
• All programming occurs outside of normal school hours
• Upon completion of the wilderness experience and accompanying course work, students earn a
credit in interdisciplinary studies (IDP 3O)
Eligibility Information
• Thames Valley student
• Priority to those who have completed at least their Grade 10 Year as of June 2026
• Interest in outdoor and experiential learning opportunities
• Interest in exploring connections to the environment
• All participants must successfully complete a Swim Test

TVDSB Aviation program
The Aviation School is a unique program open to all students throughout Thames Valley!
Aviation School is a collaborative and experiential program designed to prepare students for aviation workplace, apprenticeships, college-level training or university-level programs and meets Ontario curriculum expectations. Please visit our site for an updated pathway plan.
In addition, it fosters technical skills and develops the skills of critical thinking, innovation, creativity, self-directed learning, collaboration and citizenship. The intent of this aviation school is to start in Grade 10, progress to Grade 11 & Grade 12. In Grade 11 students join the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Aviation Program. They will earn a specialized Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a red seal in Aviation. Experiences are fully funded in SHSM by the ministry of Ontario. Senior students also have an opportunity to learn in collaboration with Fanshawe College and earn Dual Credit courses.
Students will have the opportunity to develop aviation-based knowledge and skills through a variety of programs. These programs include aircraft restoration, maintenance, repair, flight simulation, and an additional section introducing students to the new world of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). All training is consistent with Transport Canada’s current standards.
Upon successful completion students will also have the opportunity to pursue post-secondary training at the college or university level.
