An opportunity for students to collaboratively plan a wilderness leadership experience
Culminating in an 8-day canoe trip in the Ontario wilderness (subject to funding)
Participation in face-to-face community-building and practical training throughout April-June
Participation in virtual (online) meetings and discussions
Students co-create learning experiences to share with their peers based on their interests and talents
All programming occurs outside of normal school hours
Students earn an Experiential Learning Credit with a focus on Leadership
Who can take part in this experience?
Current T.V.D.S.B. students
Priority is given to those completing at least their Grade 10 Year as of June 2026 (Born 2010 or earlier)
Students who would like to develop their leadership skills and build relationships with other students
Students who are interested in unique challenges, unconventional learning opportunities and have an appreciation for the natural environment
Students who are self-motivated and able to manage an additional course outside of the school day
Students who can attend ALL mandatory face-to-face trainings
Most of the 2026 program is funded by Grants; however: a fee of $250 per student is required to help offset food and transportation costs (subject to change).
(Students may also incur personal costs for clothing and outerwear in preparation for the trip. All camping and shared gear will be provided.)
Students will have to find their own transportation* to the following mandatory evening and day-long sessions:
Wednesday April 22, 4 - 8 pm @ Westminster Ponds
Tuesday April 28, 4 - 8 pm @ Beal S.S.
Thursday June 25, 4 - 8 pm @ Westminster Ponds
Saturday June 27, 8 am - 4 pm @ Westminster Ponds
Sunday June 28, 8 am - 4 pm @ Westminster Ponds
*We can provide LTC bus tickets for transportation within the city of London, but cannot provide transportation TO the city.
Trip dates are: Monday, June 29th - Monday, July 6th, 2026
No student will be denied the opportunity to participate if affordability presents a concern.
Accommodations for learning activities and assessments will be addressed in collaboration with students, families and identified support staff at the student's home school.
We will accommodate all religious dietary restrictions and/or food allergies.
Although we cannot change the date of our trip, we can accommodate religious practices in collaboration with students.
We can provide LTC bus tickets for our mandatory in-person meetings, but are unable to provide transportation to the City of London.
