You will notice our virtual day will resemble our regular classroom schedule. Our day will begin at 9:00 am and end at 3:30 pm. Nutrition breaks have been scheduled during our regular school day times and I recommend that students use this time to eat, use the washroom, get outside and take a break from the screen.
Your child is encouraged to treat the day as if they were attending school in person. If possible, they are encouraged to eat breakfast, brush their teeth and hair and change into clothing prior to the start of the school day. We will be engaging in synchronous learning through Google Meet beginning at 9:00 each day. Simply log into Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/), click join a meeting, type the meeting code: marath206, and click join now. Once I approve your child to join, they will have access to our classroom meeting. Please remember to have your mic and video camera turned off when entering the meeting until asked to turn them on to avoid background noise.
During nutrition breaks, I ask that the students log out and take a break from the screen. Please try to have your child set up in a quiet space where they are able to listen, participate and learn without distractions as much as possible. Also, please have them logged in to Google Meet and ready to begin by 9:00 each morning, as I am expected to take attendance each day. I will open the Google Meet at 8:45 a.m. so that students can chat with their classmates before school begins...like a 'virtual recess'.
The instructions for all learning activities can be found on the next page of this google site. Simply click the page and you will see all the learning activities students are asked to complete each day. If you don’t have a printer, no worries don't print it out. Use any paper you have around the house. Your child can use a notebook, scrap paper or a white board.
There are various options when submitting student work.
1. Take pictures of your child’s work and send them to my email address (n.marath@tvdsb.ca).
2. Share google document assignments with me directly using the blue SHARE button and adding me to the share list by typing in my name and hitting send.
3. Your child can submit their assignments in Google Classroom
