Art rooms at the middle school and high school will receive upgrades to provide a more modern space for creativity and collaboration. In addition, there is the potential of adding designated outdoor space for the arts.
Governor Mifflin recognizes that visual and creative resources are in demand in many professional fields. Art rooms will be relocated to be near other elective areas to help facilitate and promote collaboration for projects and career-ready activities. This will provide opportunities to enhance and implement trans-curricular projects.
The new facilities will provide much needed room for flexible student work spaces that will open up more opportunities for art research, collaboration, and enhanced creativity. It will also provide the ability to change the setup of the room to fit the needs of the students depending on the task at hand.
The development of a more conducive environment may also allow for the establishment of a gallery space where local artists, students, former students, and faculty members can hold exhibitions. The possibility of the development of such a space will invite and engage the Governor Mifflin Community into an ongoing partnership with our district art programming.
