Students in grade 11 or grade 12 who meet the scholarship criteria, a cumulative GPA of 3.50, are eligible for selection to the National Honor Society.
Candidates must be members of the junior or senior class.
Candidates must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at Governor Mifflin High School.
Candidates shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale. (GPA is not rounded)
Students meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards will be nominated for membership by the chapter advisor.
A letter indicating nomination to NHS will be sent to eligible candidates and their parent/guardian in the fall of 11th or 12 grade.
Eligible candidates are invited to complete a Candidate Form that provides the faculty council with information regarding the candidate’s leadership and service experience.
The Candidate Form will consist of 3 parts:
A digital form the candidate will complete to outline their accomplishments in the areas of service and leadership.
A signature form that must be signed by both the candidate and parent/guardian.
Recommendation form completed by 2 high school teachers
The completed Candidate form must be received by the advisor by the date listed in the letter.
If the student does not return the completed Candidate Form to the advisor by the required date, then the advisor and Faculty Council assume the student declines nomination to the National Honor Society.
