School Counseling referrals

As a part of a comprehensive school counseling curriculum, School Counselors often offer individual counseling for students. This provides an opportunity to meet with students one-on-one to help problem solve issues they may be experiencing. Students can be referred by their parent/guardian, a teacher or staff member, the counselor's personal observations, or the students themselves. Examples of topics covered in individual counseling are grief, family change, problem solving, resiliency, social skills, friendship issues, and academic concerns. Students may meet with the counselor on a regular basis or possibly once or twice.
