a main focus of this class is climate change - this includes (i) the physical science behind it, (ii) social, spiritual, emotional, and psychological factors in how people think about climate change, (iii) the emerging way forward to effectively communicate climate change realities with an eye towards compassion, hope, and action
You folks will go on from your MAEE experience and educate around a multitude of different environmental issues with many different audiences in mind (not just climate change). To that end we will also be developing a general strategy or "way of thinking" around teaching and learning when it comes to environmental issues. It is our hope that you can modify and employ this general approach when interacting unfamilar topics. You will be further refining this skill in the Bahamas - the ability to learn about and interpret new systems on your feet!
It is also our intention that this class provides you a springboard to working on your climate residency this spring. While you will start your work on lesson planning in January you will have a lot of time in March to continue your work - so don't feel stressed about getting it refined in January!
Tell me a little bit about you.
Tell me about your development in the MAEE program thus far.
What have been some salient experiences that have brought you to this point in life?
At this point - what do you think people need to know about climate change?
