What is Reflective Writing and Why is it Important?
What is reflective writing? How do you do it? What are others ways you can reflect?
What is the purpose of reflection assignments? What about reflection in general?
What do you really like and /or really find valuable about reflection?
What are some things that you don't like and/or find challenging about reflection?
Each of us will gather a multitude of insights through class presentations & experiences. Reflective writing is one tool we use to help you build your own scaffolding to understand your insights & experiences within the larger framework of sustainability while also taking a step back to evaluate and interrogate your own thoughts, feelings, and emerging ideas while you internalize your learning.
You are to keep your reflections as a notebook to be handed in at the end of the semester. This is so that you can reference your other reflection entries and start to really build up a set of ideas. I encourage you to write in the margins, draw arrows, really whatever you need to start making connections from week to week as well as incorporate your own insights.

It is a useful goal to aim for about 600 words
Each reflection is graded according to each of the 3 rubric topics
0 = not present
1 = unclear if present or present & severely underdeveloped
2 = present but underdeveloped
3 = present, mildly underdeveloped (close to adequacy)
4 = present, adequately developed
5 = present, exceptionally developed
