Each of you will hand in a sheet of 15 potential multiple choice questions for each exam. Just handing in a set of 15 questions earns you 15 points for this 15 point assignment. Now...the best questions will be selected by me and Ruth to be included on the exam. You can see how it behooves you to write good questions because...if your question ends up on the exam...you for sure know the answer to that one! Also, it might be a good strategy to make sure your questions span the entire body of material for each exam to increase the possibility that your questions might be picked --> this is because we will want to ensure that our exam covers the whole range of topics. If you write all your questions on photosynthesis...they might all be GREAT, but there will only be so many questions on photosynthesis on the exam.
Common Pitfalls: I find that some common mistakes include putting indents next to answer options, letting Microsoft or Google handle the lettering by using the "letter bullet point" function, the letters for the options are lowercase, there is a number for each question, the answer category contains more than simply the letter of the correct answer, forgeting to capitalize "Answer", not using standard single space (1.15 is fine) formatting, and submitting a pdf instead of a Google doc - pdfs are very difficult to copy & paste from.
In short:
Hand in 15 multiple choice questions for each exam
Spread out your questions across the content to ensure some of yours get chosen for the exam
If your question gets chosen - that is like a FREE point on the exam (assuming you remember the answer to your own question!)
