Ergonomics

Ergo - what?

Definition of ergonomics (Merrium Webster)

: an applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely

When our students are at school we have specific chairs and desks to fit their needs and sizes as they grow. This is not always the case in a home stetting. Better ergonomics will help your student be more comfortable, help focus and prevent fatigue while working from home.

Smaller Kids

Tips for helping our smaller students at home

  1. Raise them up so they can look slightly down at the screen - firm pillows or cushions work best

  2. Place a stool under their feet (shown above) so they aren't "dangling"

  3. Keep lighting low enough to avoid glare to prevent eye strain.

General tips for working at your desk & computer

  • Take a break each hour to move around and stretch to prevent neck/back pain

  • Set an alarm to stand up each hour, even if just for 30-60 seconds

  • Blue Light Glasses may help with eye fatigue and eye strain which can cause headaches or fatigue from looking at a computer screen
