23/09/02 International Symposium at Taiwan
From Sep. 1st to 2nd, a joint international symposium by the University of Yamanashi (UY), and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) was held at NYCU (Hsinchu, Taiwan).
The symposium titled "Laser Control Technology for Innovation of Biomedical and Electronics'' gathered a total of 60 participants, 37 from Taiwanese research institutions and 23 from Japanese research institutions, including 12 invited talks, 31 poster presentations, and 2 organizer's lectures.
During the event, the expert researchers and students from various fields, from biomedical science to electronic material physics and next-generation data storage, discussed many innovative ideas about laser control technology.
Through active discussions, we are sure that this symposium greatly contributed to the development of communication skills and internatinal mindset.
After the presentations, the winners of the Best Poster Award and 'the Best of the Best' Poster Award were announced. Four our lab students received the Best Poster Award and one student won the Best of the Best Poster Award. Congratulations!
23/06/09 Research Camp
On June 9-10, we held a research camp for newcomer B4 undergraduate students to present and make discussions about their research topic, staying together at a hotel in the central Tokyo area.
In our lab, B4 students can choose a research topic based on their own interests such as, "I am interested in this disease." or "I want to do some research using a laser for measurement”, and then gradually shape the research theme through discussions with professors and seniors. In the spring term, they have often not yet fixed the research theme, but would like to try any experiment or feasibility study toward their goal in mind. So we set up this research camp as an opportunity for the undergrads to share their motivation, research objective and its significance, and the tentative plan for the first experiment. All B4 students have gained a lot from the advices from the lab members. Their presentations were all excellent and the intense discussions clarified the future direction of their research projects. We are sure that all B4 students will be able to make a great research progress soon!
On the second day, after all sessions finished in the morning, a BBQ party was held in the afternoon. We all enjoyed big scallops and nicely grilled meat. We are happy to finally have such a great lab party, thanks to the relaxation of the COVID restrictions. Welcome to the lab, B4 students! Keep your great work!
