04/04 - MINDFULNESS IN THE CLASSROOM
Benefits of practicing mindfulness in the classroom
Why is mindfulness so important in and for the classroom?
1) Improved Grades. Through outside studies, the average GPA across a class who practiced daily mindfulness improved 7-15%, over the control group in three different trials.
2) Stress Reduction. Both students and educators are affected by chronic stress throughout the school year and need a way to mitigate its effects. Research on the Inner Explorer program shows a 43% decrease in teacher stress with daily use.
3) Enhanced Classroom Environment. Research on Inner Explorer demonstrated a 60 percent reduction in behavioral issues, leading to more productive and engaged classrooms.
Mindfulness provides the necessary skills to cope with the stress of settling into a new school year. Be sure to check out all the other benefits of mindfulness in the classroom by reading Inner Explorer’s full article: Benefits of Mindfulness Practice in the Classroom.
Bring mindfulness into the classroom this school season. Mindfulness can help you avoid the stress of settling into a new school year and provides a strong foundation of learning. Often the jam-packed schedule and day-to-day activity during the school year makes it hard to take time to slow down. When mindfulness is introduced into the classroom, teachers and students are allowing themselves to take time out to pause.
This helps everyone better regulate their reactions and actions, thus, leading to more productive time in and outside of the classroom.
