During my basketball unit planning, I created exit tickets to assess student understanding of key skills and concepts such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategy. Although I have not implemented them yet, they were designed to provide quick insight into student learning at the end of each lesson.
Creating these exit tickets helped me understand the importance of checking for student understanding each day. Even though I have not used them yet, they helped me think more clearly about my lesson goals and how I will adjust instruction in the future.
Standard 2: Demonstrate understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
This artifact is evidence of growth in this standard because the exit tickets are designed to assess students’ understanding of basketball skills and strategies, such as when to pass or how to apply movement concepts during gameplay.
Standard 5: Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
This artifact is evidence of growth in this standard because the exit tickets include reflection questions that encourage students to think about teamwork, effort, and behavior during activities.
