United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC, 聯華電子) is the first semiconductor company in Taiwan, established in Hsinchu, 1980. We switched our method from IDM to pure-play foundry model in 1995. In 2000, we were the first Taiwan semiconductor company to list on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange).
