Hello Fluoride Schools,
The fluoride varnish program is running again this school year with two applications offered by Nova Scotia Health, Public Health Dental Hygienists. Dates to be determined.
Fluoride Varnish consent forms this year have been sent electronically.
Parents and guardians need to check their inbox (spam and junk folder) for an e-mail from CAN immunize. If you don't see it, contact the school office and make sure your contact info is up to date or to obtain a paper consent form.
TRANSPORTATION: https://avrce.mybusplanner.ca If you have questions about your child’s bus information, please contact our transportation staff at transportation@avrce.ca or 902-538-4641. Please include your child’s name, civic address, and school in emails.
For athletic schedules, please visit the Athletics Page, which is updated regularly.
***Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, WHMS will follow a 5-day schedule. That means the first day of school for students — Thursday, September 4 — will be Day 1. Wednesday, September 10 will be Day 5, and Thursday, September 11 will circle back to Day 1.
If there’s an unexpected closure (like a snow day or power outage), we skip that day in the schedule. For example, if school is closed due to a snow day on a Day 2, the next school day will be Day 3.
If the closure is planned (like a PD Day or holiday), we don’t assign a day to it — we simply continue counting after the closure. For example, in 2025, Remembrance Day falls on a Tuesday. That week, Monday will be Day 4, and Wednesday will be Day 5.
***Please note that changes are coming to our ordering system for the 2025-2026 school year
Please visit Nova Scotia's Provincial School Lunch Program for more details.
"SACs are advisory bodies to individual school principals, regional centres for education (RCEs), and the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) on a range of issues related to their local schools and the overall school system."
"SAC membership can vary, but generally consists of the school principal, parents/guardians, teachers, other school staff, students, and community members. SAC membership should reflect the diversity of the school community. "
